manufacturing background

hello
can anyone pls tel me how would having a manufacturing background help me in an MBA application
im a production engineer from India
since most students applying from india are a part of the IT pool, does having a background of manufacturing help?
wil it help me contribute more to an MBA class?
would the MBA adcom think so too?

A manufacturing background will definitely help you. However, more important than just your industry will be the kind of work you are doing, how much responsibility you are getting and how successful you have been. You might also want to look at programs that specialize in operations. Think MIT's LGO program or Tauber at Ross, assuming you are interested in operations going forward.
