SC: Confused between b & e

1. The distribution of mass within the core of the Earth,
like the mantle that surrounds the core, has been
deduced from the orbital behavior of the Earth and
the motions of satellites controlled by the Earth’s
gravity.
a. the mantle that surrounds the core
b. that within the mantle surrounding the core
c. that of the mantle surrounding the core
d. the mantle the core surrounds
e. the distribution of mass within the mantle that
surrounds the core

I am confused between b & e. Could someone please give the right answer & explain?

seems || to me.

imo c.
that of the mantle surrounding the core
that refers to the distrbution
seems parallel with The distribution of mass within the core of the Earth

So we are comparing The distribution of mass within X and within Y

So this leaves us with B and E

The use of THAT makes B more concise than E

And B uses surrounding rather than surrounds



b. that within the mantle surrounding the core

e. the distribution of mass within the mantle that
surrounds the core
