Only those students who maintain 2.5 grade point averages are allowed to participate in school sports. Amy is
captain of the school's tennis team, so she must have at least a 2.5 GPA. Which of the following statements best
summarizes the main point of the above argument?
"¢ Students who don't maintain a 2.5 GPA can't participate in sports.
"¢ Amy is a good tennis player.
"¢ The school should only require a minimum GPA of 2.0 to participate in sports.
"¢ Amy has earned at least the minimum GPA required to participate on a school sports team.
"¢ Amy wouldn't be captain of the tennis team if her GPA were lower.

What is wrong with A?

A is one of the premises, but not the main point.

D: Amy has earned at least the minimum GPA required to participate on a school sports team.

is the main point, which states Amy, the subject, has the minimum GPA required.

Only A and D are contenders

A is out because, what if students do not able to maintain 2.5. However, what if they maintain more than 2.5, they can get selected in sport team

D is correct

A is a common trap when it comes to main point questions. Answers that repeat the premise or even the sub-conclusion are very attractive because they are true, but if you can't distinguish how premise and main point differ, then you'll fall into this trap every time.

acc to A result will be same for a student with 2.4 grades and another one with 2.6 grades bth are not maintaining 2.5 grade and therefore will not allowed to participate.
however stimulus is stating that => 2.5 = sports team
tehrefore D is correct

The conclusion tell us about Amy.

Amy is the captain because she is a good tennis player. But the main point of the question is that to be in the tennis team she had to have at least 2.5 GPA.
Being the captain comes after she has become eligible for the tennis team.
