a, b, c, d and e be non-negative real numbers such that a + b + c + d + e = 10. Let X be the maximum of the numbers a + b, b + c, c + d and d + e. The least possible value of X lies in the interval

[0, 2]
[2, 3]
[3, 4]
[5,7]
[5, 10]

The least possible value of x is possible when we all the sum are equal.
That is when a=b=c=d=e=2[In any other case the maximum of a + b, b + c, c + d and d + e would be Greater Than 4]
Hence ,the answer is 4 which lies in the interval [3,4]
So,OA should be C.
It takes time and effort to explain, so if my comment helped you please press Thanks button :)

OA is
Average of the numbers = 2.
So the least possible value of X lies in the interval [3,4].
