Power Prep Test Vs GMATPrep Tests

by anshjalan » Tue Sep 02, 2008 8:02 pm
Hello,

I downloaded the two PowerPrep tests and i also have GMATPrep test CD. After taking the two PowerPrep test from the CD, when i try to take the test again, most questions are repeated, which make the test easier and inflates the score. So i dont think the final score of these tests is a good estimate of what my actual GMAT score may look like.

Do u think GMATPrep tests are more accurate with fewer repetitions? Should i practice several of those tests, even though some questions may be repeated ?

Please suggest which of the two is better to practice in the last one week before the test to get a better estimate of what the real Gmat score will look like ?

Thanks

GMATPrep is a much more accurate representation of the real GMAT, though there is some value to doing PowerPrep. The database of questions on PowerPrep is much smaller than on GMATPrep (hence more repeats), PowerPrep contains several questions you will have seen in the OG, and GMATPrep has a much larger pool of difficult questions, so is better suited to the high-level test-taker. In addition, GMATPrep simulates the current GMAT in all respects- appearance of the screens, style of question, etc. If you want a good predictor of your likely score, GMATPrep is a better option, and I do think there is a lot of value in doing each GMATPrep test more than once. The PowerPrep tests are worth doing once each if you have time, but should be a lower priority than GMATPrep.

I agree with Ian, PowerPrep throws fewer new questions than GmatPrep. Plus G.P has a better GUI.

Dear all,

Could you tell me where I could download the PowerPrep tests from? I only have the GMATPrep tests.

Thanks in advance!
