GMAT DISASTER

by bobdylan » Thu Mar 08, 2012 7:51 am
Hello everyone!
For the last 3 months I've been a silent observer, but today, after my first attempt on the real Gmat test, I've decided to finally come to you guys and ask for some help. After 3 months of hard study, an average of 10 hours a day , scoring 600 to 650 on the practice tests, I 've tested my abilities today: and the results were horrible, 450, 15 on Quantitative. Horrible, devastating!!!!
I was very nervous so I was caught into the death spiral, did not sleep well the night before the test. But when I say the score, after so much hard work, i felt like crying. My wife said I should'd desist, so I just made another appointment in 1 month. I have 1 month to increase at least 150 points.
Now, I'm just crying, begging for help: WHAT SHOULD I DO in order to accomplish my goal????????[/i][/b]

hi bobdylan,
given what i have heard so far from your post you weakness is the quantitative section. In this one month you should thus focus on this part of the GMAT primarily (But also do a bit for the other parts to "stay in shape").
You should really ask yourselve what the problem is: Not enough time, dont know where to begin a question etc? Practice as many sample questions as you can and take practice test in a real test envoirment. This will also help you with you mental strenght. It is the worst thing you can do to lose hope when you cant answer one ore two quetions. You have to learn to move on in order to succesfully pass the test.

thats it

Hi Jan! Thank you very much for the advise!!
Yes, I know I should concentrate myself on the math, that's why I already ordered the Manhattan 8-pack guides. By the way, do you know whether they' helpful?Because about the practice, I had done The OG exercises 3 times each, on both. So, I think I should concentrate on the basics, mostly number properties.
Again, thanks Jan

No Problem,
The Manhattan Books are good, today any books of the major prep companies are pretty much the same quality. WHat I found very helpful are online video curses - they teach the content in a interactive way but cost much less than a "real" gmat prep class.

Yeas, practice is important, but you wont get anywhere if you do not have the basics "perfected"

Good Luck to you!
