Hi Kriti,

Most the MBA schools ask for minimum 2 yrs of work exp. A lot of things will depand on your GMAT score.

Most of Indian applicatnts for B-schools are IT Engineers.
Your career achievements can help you to stand out of this crowd.

Regarding school :

Different B schools are famous for different specializations and all depands on your career goals.

You should select best fit B-school for you.

Hope it helped!!

I am Ankur not amit :)

I am surprised to hear that an IT engineer wants to persue her career in Finance :)

Its a tough task to justify your goals as your base is not ralated to Finance at all.WHy are you interested in Finance?

If you are interested in finance what you have done to achieve these goals and where you want to see yourself after MBA? I mean think of your short term and long term goals.

You want to take GMAT in december and its too far.So dont worry about school selection. You need to select schools at the time of test only. First decide and fix your goals.

If any other doubts please let me know. Will be glad to help !!

Hi Amit :)

Answering to your doubt first, I belong to a business family. My father is a Custom Consultant. I have been living a pretty descent life till now. I like programming (my main job), but i don't like the Indian IT industry, they way it treats me. I am not being paid as much as I work. So i thought of doing MBA. But the mere thought was not enough. So I started analyzing, that which field of MBA suits me the best, the result was (in the order of preference): Finance, Actuarial Science, International Business.

Finance because of the reason that I can work in this field till I gain enough knowledge and then become an independent professional. Now you would question that same can happen in other fields too, but there independence still means depending on clients, but here independence would mean working for my self: me and my portfolio.

Now coming to my long term goals. 10 yrs down the line, I want to become an independent consultant.
Now obviously, within these 10 yrs I would like to gain as much knowledge as I can, so that I can fulfill my long term goal.

I think this clears all your doubts about my goals and preferences. :)
