Hey everyone,

I just started with my preparations for the GMAT. I was wondering however is it a good idea to cover all the theory first (say in a week to 10 days), then start practising whilst reviewing the Flashcards on a daily basis?

Once ofcourse I am comfortable with the practise, I'd go ahead and do some Gmat prep tests.


Would kindly appreciate your feedback anyone. Thanks

In my opinion, if you are starting off your prep fresh with no previous knowledge of the GMAT, then doing a quick study of theory (understanding concepts tested, format of exam, etc) is a good idea. But you can do it in less than a week, I'd say no more than 5 days.

After that, start to get deep into practice! Good luck!

I agree, it's a good idea to work on fundamentals before adding on GMAT problems. A great way to spend your first week or so of studying is to review your basic algebra, mental math, and grammar. That way, you won't be (as) overwhelmed when you start doing GMAT problems.

Strategy

Thank you very much for your feeback.

I am actually quite familiar with the format as I have attempted the GMAT before. However, I am studying now again with better resources Manhattan series, OG supplemental material, OG 11 ed, and Princeton Review 09.

I am also making flashcards in addition to the ones that I have downloaded from this website. (Thank you very much).

My plan is to finish the review in about a week to 10 days tops. Then do my first GMAT exam from the Prep Software. Record my score and find out my weaknesses and then dive into all the questions from the OG and the Supplemental (whilst reviewing the flashcards on a daily basis).

Then hopefully every week take another exam in order to be able to establish a trend by the end of the 11 weeks that I have for my exam.

If you have any other recommendations or suggestions, kindly do not hesitate to let me know. I value your opinions very much.
