Hi,
I am planning to apply for one of the top ten EMBA programs in the US such as (Wharton,Kellogg,UCLA,USC,Haas,Michigan). I will be 43 next year and I understand that I will probably be on the higher side of the age scale. I graduated in 1991 with a degree in Electronics Engineering from one of the best engineering schools in India. I worked in India for about 5 years for a top consulting company and then in the US for a leading software company for about 10 years in consulting and product development. Started off as Sr Consultant in their Services Business and few years later transitioned to their Product Development. I progressed from Principal Engineer to Engineering Manager. 2.5 years ago I quit to start my own services business, did ok in the beginning and then because of the market condition I could not line up projects and decided to join a Distribution and Logistics company as IT Architect. Though this is a high profile role,I interact with VP,CFO and Sr Mgmt of the company on a regular basis on various IT initiative and enjoy higher visibility than i have in my previous company, for some reason I feel that Title could be a bottleneck. During the last two years I have successfully executed two huge IT implementation across geographical boundaries. Directed consultants and contractors for the project. I got my Sr. Mgmt excited about my interest in EMBA program and they have offered full support in terms of recommendation and time-off from work to attend classes.
Given that, what are my chances to stir interest in admission committee for one of the top EMBA programs? To increase my chances i will definitely consider 2/3-tier schools as well, however, to get my dollars worth and time spent my first option would be to put in as much as effort i can to gain acceptance into one of the top schools.
Any other suggestions as to which top rank schools I have higher chances, I live in Santa Rosa ~30 miles north of San Francisco and I don't mind commuting or flying every month or once every two weeks
Thanks so much
Arthur
