The second statement says that y = 2....
So, 1/ 2x (x +2) = 3/4
or
x + 2 / 2x = 3/4
so 4x + 8 = 6x
8 = 2x or x = 4

1/x + 1/y = (y+x)/xy.
Thus:
1/x = (x+y)/xy - 1/y = 3/4 - 1/2 = 1/4.
Thus:
1/x = (x+y)/xy - 1/y = 3/4 - 1/2 = 1/4.

as per sceond equation, y=2
solve equation 1 using "y=2"
(x+y)/xy=3/4
4x+8=6x
x=4
1/x=1/4
