Leave job to focus on applications

by doggdetroit » Sat Aug 15, 2009 5:37 pm
I am currently planning on applying to various MBA programs for the fall of 2010. Professionally, I am in a position where I have been promoted several times over the course of 3.5 years, but now I have reached the ceiling of what is available at my company. Of course, the easy thing to do would be to look outside the company, but in this economic climate that is easier said than done. I'm wondering how it would look if I left my current job, (in good terms of course,) to focus on my applications and GMAT preparation, full time, just because I don't see how staying at my current job really helps me. The position that I am in right now, is not one of management, and while I do have some accomplishments and achievements to point to, overall this is not what my job is really geared towards. Would this have a negative impact on my application?

Thoughts?
