Following up with Recommenders

by dan.iannetta » Fri Dec 10, 2010 9:20 am
Throughout the round 1 admission process, I had several recommenders that wrote on my behalf. I was wondering from anyone out there , if they bought their rececommenders a small gift of thanks?

I will certainly be writing my recommenders a personal note of thanks, however does anyone take it one step further? If so what are some ideas for small gifts that people have done for their recommenders in the past?

Most of my recommenders are pretty well off, so I don't anticipate their is anything that they "want", that they are not able to buy already. However a small token of appreciation may be nice. Bottle of wine? Restaurant gift card?

Any ideas you may have would be greatly appreciated...

I think it is pretty common to get recommenders a small gift. I have heard that a lot of people go with a bottle of wine like you mentioned.

Depending on how many recommendations they wrote for me and how easy they were to buy gifts for I did the following

Recommender 1.) 5 recommendations - 30 minute aerobatics flight voucher
Recommender 2.) 3 recommendations - 45 minute flight in a WW2 tiger moth voucher
Recommender 3.) 2 recommendations - French champagne
Recommender 4.) 2 recommendations - Australian Wine
Recommender 5.) 2 recommendations - Australian Wine
