Hello everyone. I was recently presented with an opportunity from my company, but it interferes with my educational plans. If at all possible, can I get some advice?

I was recently offered a leadership position within my company, but I would have to reloacte from San Francisco to Portland. My salary would be around $80,000 which is a 35% bump in pay. I have a bachelors degree and I am 24. My issue is this, I fear I may be pigeon-holing myself into one industry and one skillset which would make future advancements in my career difficult. Because I was living in SanFrancisco, I was planning on applying to Hass or Wharton (they have an SF location) and doing an evening/weekend MBA option. But now that I was offered this position with a good pay increase I am looking at either Kelley, Cornell-Queens, or Duke's cross-continent. I would get the on-the-job experience and the MBA.

So overall what is better, no promotion and getting a degree from Wharton or Hass. Or moving with a great promotion and going to Kelley or Duke? Considering the economy and I am being handed a promotion I am leaning towards moving and getting an online degree or a hybrid program like Cornell-Queens or Duke. Also will an online program be looked down upon by recruiters or other companies in the future?

Your thoughts??

Well this is hard to say cause it's a life decision, and I aint a life coach :).

But I can share a thought with you maybe: Leadership is awesome, and most people don;t get to do it till after their MBA. And you are so young that you have at least five six more years in which you can apply for an MBA. Plus you seem to have a sweet offer. So you are in the possibility of taking the offer, seeing how it goes for a year, and then thinking about it again. And anyhow one year of leadership will significantly strengthen your profile for Bschools int he meanwhile...
