Imp info missed: Why MBA?
I want to switch stream from Technical to Management, and thus would want to go for an MBA. MBA would help me understand the business basics, give me head-start for my career in management plus help increase my professional network. I have no particular stream as of now to choose as my specialization but Marketing/Product planning/Strategy planning are the ones that interests me.

Thanks again
Pooja

Hello Pooja,

Your profile looks good, but some tweaks are required to make it a sure shot at top schools. I am a student at ISB. We're working on something to help out future aspirants. Please refer to our website https://www.mbastudents.tk/ and reach out to us.

We're offering guidance not just for ISB but also for Wharton, Oxford, NUS and a few more. This is all firsthand information because our group consists of students from Wharton and Bocconi.

All the best!!

Hi pooja,
Your GMAT is score is good and you have an excellent GRE score. GPA of 3.4 is relatively on par with the requirements of top business schools. Your academic profile seems attractive as you are an NTSE scholar. Your work experience (28 months) is quite low as, many major B-schools require 48-72 months of work experience. But can work if you have quality experience. Quality of work experience matters more than the quantity. Promotion at Microsoft and your leadership roles are good signs. Do you have international experience?
Extracurricular activities are slightly weak (not many people outside India know about kho kho). But, you need to explain the role clearly emphasizing your leadership roles in that sport. Take a leadership role at e-vidyaloka. Don't just be a volunteer. Anyone in this world can be a volunteer. Make an impact.
You have a very good profile. You should aim high. If you plan properly, you can definitely get into a top 10 school. If I were you, I would remove Ohio State, Georgia institute of technology and McCombs. We have recently met a person with a similar profile who we helped to get into LBS. Focus a lot on application essays. Speak to few current students and alumni of your target schools. Good luck.
