by ShilpaSood » Sat Oct 18, 2008 5:49 am
Hi,

Please evaluate my profile and choice of schools -

India Female/26
Undergrad(Engineering) : Top 10 Indian Institute
Masters(in Finanace): Top 5 European Institute
GMAT: 720 ( 49/38 ) AWA 5.5

WE : 2 years. Investment Banker with Tier 1 bank in Paris. Good career progress.
Extra curriculars - Strong during undergraduate.

Post-MBA, I want to continue in finance in a different stream.

My choice of schools -

Wharton
Stanford
Chicago
Columbia
NYU
MIT

Please asses my choice of schools. Which of these do I stand a fair shot? I also want to know which would be safe school.

Thanks for your help.

Regards,
Shipa.

Dear Shipa,

You have a competitive profile for these programs. However, none of them are a safety option. These schools are all top 15 programs so are a bit of a reach for anyone based on the size of their applicant pools. Safety options for you are going to be schools in the 20-40 range where you will stand out more in their applicant pool. Regardless of whether a school is a safety or reach, you will need to put together a strong application package and make a compelling case for your admission.

Best of luck,
Lisa
