Round 3--Should I

by orpheus » Sat Feb 08, 2014 10:41 am
Good afternoon,

I hope any expert passed by would help me out on making decision. I am an international student from a South East Asian Country with 4 years of experience and 720 Gmat (on my 4th try :(). I have applied a couple of schools in round 2 but the waiting really makes me anxious. Thus I am thinking of applying to some schools in Round 3 (as backup schools). My goal is doing startups after graduation that's why I am looking to studying in a more metropolitan area. One of the school I am thinking is Rice. Is it a good decision to apply in R3? What schools are recommended?

Thank you for answering.

Hi,

Ideally you should target minimum 6 schools to increase your chances of getting interview call. You can still look at some safe options in round 3 like Georgetown University McDonough, Kelley, Michigan Broad, Purdue, Ohio Fisher, USC Marshall, Boston University, Vanderbilt University. Instead of waiting for interview call from couple of schools I would suggest you to apply in R3 and keep some backup schools.

I actually applied for 8 schools already and to be honest I still fell anxious as this year is the last year I can apply(due to other commitment). I am thinking of apply to 2-3 more schools more in Round3 :(
