GMAT Score Calculation

Hello!

I took a Princeton Review Test today and I thought it went well, until I got my final score.
In Maths, I got 30 outta 37 questions correct and scored 50 marks. In Verbal, I got 27 questions correct and could score barely 21 marks. Overall i could score 590 only. After analyzing the paper, I found out that most of the questions of which I gave correct responses, were of moderate difficult level.
I am aiming at 720. And scoring a 590 just disheartens me. Can somebody throw a light on how GMAT scores are calculated?
Although I know I'm not fully prepared as of now, but still can somebody guide me on how to score better points next time?

The important thing to note is that your scores are not based on how many questions you answer correctly; they're based on the level of difficulty of the questions you answer correctly.

Yes Sir. I understand that thing clearly. But as I mentioned in my previous post, while analyzing the solutions, I figured this out that most of the questions that I gave correct answers of, were of moderate difficulty level. This one actually worries me a lot!

Sorry about that. I thought that, since you were providing information regarding the number of questions answered correctly, you were concluding that this had something to do with your final scores.

As you know, the scoring algorithm gives you questions based on the difficulty level of the previous questions that you've answered correctly. So, if the algorithm gave you questions of "moderate difficulty" then you must have been answering the difficult questions incorrectly. I can see why this might "worry you a lot," but I'm not sure what your question is.

At the risk of oversimplifying matters . . . to achieve a higher score, you need to answer the difficult questions correctly. If you're looking for a more specific answer, you need to provide specific information regarding what you have identified as your primary weaknesses.
