Guys

I have been offered admits from both Tepper and McCombs MBA programs, and I am a little confused between the schools. I definitely want to get into marketing, so McCombs should be my priority, but I like Tepper's resources and personal contact more to some extent, so I bend towards that at times. What do you say?

Congratulations! Both the schools are good. Tepper does have a brand name. But looking at your interest in marketing, McCombs is better. Its marketing program falls into top 10. Employment stats also show that more number of people are placed in the nearby areas. You don't have to travel to other part of the city for job or internships. Social scene isn't that great at Tepper. If you want work life balance and a more holistic b-school experience, go for McCombs.

Basically dude, you are in a win-win situation. I don't think the answer is as clear cut as my colleague above. Marketing is relatively general, and you can do that from any school, and Tepper has a better name. If you go to McCombs, you will like stay in the region (and/or cali), but the schools are sooooo different, that I would definitely suggest you visit each for two days before you decide. And then, you can follow not just your brain but your heart as well.

Hey there,

Congratulations! That's a great position to be in. I agree with Jon - there are a few more variables at play. Another one to consider is what TYPE of marketing are you really interested in. Each school has certain strengths that can play into functional opportunities and education in different ways.

Take a look at the courses available and their descriptions. Research the professors. Look through employment reports. Talk to current students and ask them what kind of opportunities have been available to them.

They're both great options but definitely research the variables you're interested in beyond just simple rankings.
