Dear Consultant,

I am an Indian Male (25 Yrs) with Engineering Back ground. Following the graduation, I have completed PGDBM ( equivalent to MBA) in 2008.

Presently, I am working with one of the fastest growing Metals and Mining conglomerate.

Experience: 2.5 yrs ( as on date).

Domain: Human Resources.

Profile: HR Manager for a factory with 1400 regular and 600 contract employees.

Responsibilities include:

Manpower Planning, Induction, Training and Development, Performance Management, Reward and Recognition, HR policy implementation & Disciplinary issues, Industrial relations issues, Statutory compliances, Welfare, Employee engagement, Event Management, Attrition Analysis and Retention strategies and Exit formalities.

Achievements and Extra curricular activities : Very good.

GMAT score: 670 / 48 Q / 34 V / 4.5 AWA

I am planning for a post MBA career in HR consulting. In the long run, I wish to see myself heading the HR strategy division in one of the leading consultancy firms.

With this vision, I am planning to apply for Nanyang Business School ( 2011 intake).

I request you to evaluate the suitability of my profile for NBS and suggest better options.

Thanks and Regards,

Sunshine 85

Sunshine85,

Although Nanyang's average work experience is 4 years, you have enough experience to apply there. And although being an Indian male puts you in a crowded demographic, your HR background and goals is IMO a very strong differentiator. Moreover, your 670 GMAT is in line with Nanyang's 662 average. The challenge will be your PGDBM. You will need to find out from Nanyang whether this is an automatic disqualifier, and if not you will still have to explain why you need "another MBA." In terms of suggesting other schools, I would need to know what regions you are targeting -- Asia only?

Dear Mr. Paul,

Thank you for an encouraging response.

I shall contact Nanyang Business School before applying.

Will my age be a disadvantage for applying to the NBS? ( Average age ~= 28)

I am targeting for colleges in Asia, France and Netherlands.

Regards,

N.Ravitej
