US Work permits after MBA graduation

Once I eventually get accepted into a full time MBA in the USA, I am fairly certain that I can get a student work visa. However, thinking ahead to graduation, I am keen to get a full time job in the USA either in the California area or New York City.

Does anyone know about the process to get a US Work permit after MBA graduation? Would you simply need to find a job with a company which would sponsor and support your work permit? Is it common to many international students working in the US?

By way of background, I am an Englishman with a background in Front Office IT in the Equity Markets/investment banking.

Hi JSL,
Yes, you would need to find a company to sponsor your visa. Many traditional MBA recruiting firms (consulting, finance, marketing) will offer sponsorship if you are hired full time.

Hop over to the britishexpats.com forum, they have a visa section full of people you can ask.

Yes, I believe that is how most international students stay in the US - they are sponsored by their employeer.

During the recruiting process, companies will let you know whether they sponsor international students.

I heard recently with the economic slowdown in progress, a lot of companies are hesitant to offer sponsorships.

Does this also depend on the school that you are from?

In other forum posts I have seen people saying that the students can look at international opportunities outside the US. But my worry is if those pay packages will be as competitive as those offered in the US.

After all, I will have a huge debt to pay when I am out of the school right?
