Hi,

I was wondering what is the post MBA opportunities like in Australia after getting an MBA from perhaps a top 20 USA Business school...

I live in Australia at the moment and it seems to me that there is a strong stigma about younger MBA graduates and US degrees. Is there any truth to it?

I intend to work in australia for a while post graduation (provided I do get into a top 20 bschool in USA )and just trying to gather some real info regarding this topic.

This may be a silly question but truly how do I compare an MBA from USA to an MBA say from AGSM or MGSM if i decide to live and work in Australia?

Where do I get more information about post mba opportunities for graduates from a USA bschool wanting to live and work in australia?

Thank you.

Dear blacksmith1205,

The type of placement information you are looking for is quite difficult to find. Placement data is school-specific beyond general MBA recruiting/job opportunities articles in newspapers in magazines. Thus I think your best plan to determine whether or not a US MBA is worthwhile versus AGSM or MGSM is to research the Australian companies you would like to work for post-MBA. Try to find out where they recruit, how they view different business schools, etc. You might find the best way to do that is to try and set up informational interviews with recruiting managers or hiring managers at these companies, as well as other employees that are active in recruiting efforts. Being in business school in the geography you wish to be in when you finish does make your job search a little easier, logistically speaking, but that is not to say it is impossible to get from the US to Australia when you finish.

Good luck,
Lisa
