Because of rapid technology breakthroughs in the last 20 years, many people that might have at one time suffered as new employees from lack of remote access, multiple computer viruses, or technical glitches now enjoy flawless wireless access as veteran workers.
A.
B. who might once have suffered as new employees
C. that as new employees might once have suffered
D. who, as new employees, might have at one time suffered
E. who, when they were new employees, might at one time have suffered

Any analysis of the various choices please?

"who" is required to modify people. AC out.

D uses "as new employees" as non essential. But is is essential.

in E, who and they are redundant, because both are referring back to people

--->>"that" is wrong, who must be used in its place.
D. who, as new employees, might have at one time suffered
--->> "people suffered as new employees" <meaning is changed in this choice>
E. who, when they were new employees, might at one time have suffered
---> who- when-- akwrd construction

A,C, E can be ruled out easily.

Between B and D - D changes the meaning , pick B.

I think D changes the adverbial modifier "as new employees" to a noun modifier modifying people.

I always tend to miss the subtly of changing essential modifier to non essential modifier.
How and when it is justified to change essential to non-essential.

1. you need who and not that for people.
2. Once is ||el with now
3. Once denotes the time in past. Once does mean only one time.
