Adam Smith, a Scottish moral philosopher and a pioneer of political economics,
wrote the first book on modern economics titled The Wealth of Nations, and
stated that being a teacher at Glasgow was far superior to teaching at Oxford.

B: The Wealth of Nations and stated that teaching at Glasgow
C: The Wealth of Nations and stated that being a teacher at Glasgow
D: The Wealth of Nations stating that teaching at Glasgow
E: The Wealth of Nations and he stated that teaching at Glasgow

please what is the difference between options B and E

You do not need the he after the and... it is implied by the compound sentence.

in E, after And there is a complete clause and you need a COMMA before AND.

from the two posts, i can deduce that (per the difference) B is correct because the 2nd part of the sentence (DC) uses the subject of the previous clause (IC)- implied.

Whereas, E is wrong because it connects two ICs with an "and" but without the required COMMA.

the last question in og verbal review states that we need COMMA+AND to connect 2 independent clauses. In other cases, we need AND without COMMA.
