Are x and y integers?

(1) x + y is an odd integer.

(2) 4x - y is an even integer.

1) They could be integers (2 and 3, for instance), but they could also be decimals or fractions (.2 + 2.8 = 3). Insufficient.

2) If x=4 and y=2, then yes. However, if x = 1/2 and y = 0, then no. Insufficient.

Both: x=1/5 and y=4/5 would work (1/5 + 4/5 = 1, and 4(1/5) - 4/5 = 4/5 - 4/5 = 0), but so would x=3 and y=2 (3 + 2 = 5, and 4*3 - 2 = 12 - 2 = 10). Insufficient.
