A. movies-less than those
B. movies-fewer than have been
C. movies, which is less than those
D. movies, a number lower than the people
E. movies, fewer than the ones

fewer is used for countable entities, not less.

choice B is the only one that maintains this and a parallel structure.

I agree with Sars72. The only two possible choices are 'B' and 'E', because they correctly contain the word "fewer" with respect to the countable entities (people). Then, the "have been killed" in choice 'B' matches up with the "have been killed" earlier in the statement.

IMO E

Fewer is Countable and Lower is not. Therefore choices are B or E.

The hyphen between the "movies" and "fewer" in B breaks the sentence in correctly to make "-eater of the movies-".

Hence E.

IMO E..
A and C are out. Less can be used for uncountable nouns only
D.. I found it too awkward.
Found E better than B

And now, remedial question interpretation: In the absence of the 'underline', remember that choice (A) repeats the phrase which is underlined.
