Need Help in understanding the Essay

by ritish » Wed Oct 27, 2010 10:20 am
Hi All,

I am applying for the COX MBA.

As a part of the application COX has the following question

The Cox School of Business seeks students who desire to become leaders with purpose ? those who will positively influence the global business community, whether in a small way or on a large scale. What have you done thus far in your career to make a difference?

When they are saying "Positive Influence on the Global Business Community" do they mean "Community Service" ?

Can someone please help in understanding the question? How do i approach this?

Thanks and Regards,
-Ritish

Hi Ritish,

By "positively influence the global community," the essay prompt is not only referring to community service, although it could include that. You can positively influence the global community in a myriad of ways such as introducing a new way of approaching a problem, shedding light on a problem that others have been overlooking, dedicating yourself to learning as much about a certain topic, etc. It simply means, "How will you make the world of business a better place for everyone involved?"

Good luck!
