Essay Consultants

by cmmancin » Fri Sep 23, 2011 5:23 pm
I am applying to Kellogg, Booth, Columbia and a few others and I would like to use an essay consultant to perfect my applications. Does anyone have preferences/advice on a good essay consultant/company to use? I appreciate and welcome any input, especially regarding these three schools in particular.

Thank you!

Whatever you decide, make sure you buy with your head. Fancy words such as packages and what not are thrown at you, but find out each consultant's attitude towards clients, flexibility, and response time. You can find these things by contacting old clients, and taking their opinion. You will learn little from contacting the companies. You may think these are taken for granted, but you would be surprised.

This thread is kinda old but we feel compelled to add to it.

Because it's a VERY important point that co_lor has made.

We've got some rants on admissions consulting over on our blog (along with some hopefully-helpful posts about bschool essay strategies!!) - here's one that you may want to check out: https://essaysnark.blocked/2011/06/ ... truth.html

Obviously, EssaySnark is an admissions consultant. So you shouldn't trust us either, necessarily. But the caveat emptor thing ("buyer beware") is way important to keep in mind here. Like with everything else in life, all adm consltnts are not created equally.

ETA: This post is absolutely NOT written in response to the admissions consultants who responded above!!! Please, no offense intended, we're not targeting any specific admissions consultant or consulting company with this post, so please please do not infer anything like that from these comments. We're not criticizing anyone or trying to hint that they are untrustworthy. Just make sure you do your own research, like what co_lor said.
EssaySnark has MBA application guides for HBS, Stanford, Booth, Wharton, NYU and pretty much any other school you can name - including a fully revised and expanded 2015 Columbia essay guide!

Hi Cmmancin,

I've written an article called "How to Prepare for a Consultation Call with an Admissions Consultant" that could be helpful in helping you make the most of consultation calls while you shop around for consultants. Here's the link: https://theartofapplying.com/2011/08/how ... onsultant/

I'd love to be considered as well as you look around for the best fit for your needs (including anyone reading this post).

Good luck and happy shopping!
