Another Undegrad Student

by Veinard » Tue Aug 07, 2007 1:45 am
Hello!

Could you please devote some of your time to give an advice to me.

I want to apply to a school like Columbia, HBS, etc.

My undergrad GPA is 3,75 / 4.0 (I had 4 semesters of quanttive courses. For all of them I got A's) - American University in Central Asia, Finance concentration.

My GMAT is 760 (Q50, V42)

I speak English, Russian, French, and Turkish.
I am a founder and a CEO of the first investment student organisation in my country. Besides that I attended two more clubs at my university.

I have been an intern at DHL and one of the "Big Four" companies.
I have successfully passed 3 of 4 exams which are required for accountant certification. (It is a CPA analogue in my region.)

I believe I can substantiate my desire to get an MBA right now quite well.

What do you think of my chances to get admitted to a top-10 school?

Hi Veinard,

I think your chances are quite good - your academics are strong and you have shown leadership by starting your own club in school.

You will need to very strongly articulate your need for an MBA immediately after undergrad. I think it will be worthwhile for your own benefit to do some serious soul searching about why this is the right move for you. Most people do not settle on a lifelong career path immediately after undergrad, and it's very useful for some people to experience the workplace prior to attending business school.

Good luck!
