If n is a positive integer, is 222/n an integer?
  • 1. n<5
    2. n is a prime number

Hi,
(1) -> if n=1,2,3. 222/n is integer.
if n=4, 222/n is not an integer.
Not sufficient

(2)-> if n=2, 222/n is integer.
if n=5, 222/n is not an integer.
Not sufficient

From(1)&(2) -> n=2,3. So, 222/n is integer
Sufficient
Hence, answer C

IMO B

Since this is a yes/no question, we dont need to find the value of 222/n. We just need to check if the given condition helps to answer the question whether 222/n is an integer!

1) for n=1,2,3 222/n is integer
but for n=4 222/n is not an integer
hence we cant say definitely whether 222/n is integer

2) for n=2,3 222/n is integer
so with this second statement we can definitely say that 222/n is an integer,since we cannot contradict with any other value.

So correct answer is B

While considering 2) alone, how are you taking only 2 and 3? It can be 2,3, 5,7, 11 ....anything.
2) just mentions a prime number.

You forgot to consider n=7 or other prime numbers..
