Semicolon is required. Thus eliminate B and C.

Among A, D and E, => E is the correct option as luggage (Object) should be indicated with an "IT".

I first eliminated A and C since it referred to singular "luggage" with plural "them." I then axed D because "since she did so" made it sound awkward. Wish I had a more academic way to explain it. B and E are identical, except for the semicolon. B appears to have two thoughts that need separation through a semicolon, so I selected E.

Just thought you might like a quick refresh on Independent Clauses: https://grockit.com/blog/gmat/2010/04/01 ... t-clauses/

There are 4 main pieces of punctuation to know: colons, semicolons, commas, and dashes. They come into play with run-ons a lot. :)

" she did so primarily ..." is a connection to the previous clause. I don't understand why we should use a semicolon?

We use a semicolon for independant clause but if we take only the clause after the semicolon, we don't know what "so" refers to!!!

Please I would be gratefull is someone could clarify this matter!!!
