S?

G, P, and S are animal species.
What is the average life span, in year,
of S ?
(1) The average life span of S is
twice that of P and
4/5 that of G.
(2) The average life span of G is 30
years longer than that of P and 10
years longer than that of S.

OA is C

From (1) We can write S=2P and S=4G/5. This does not give us sufficient information. NOT SUFFICIENT
From (2) We can write
G=P+30 and
G=S+10

We cannot calculate "S" from the above eqns. NOT SUFFICIENT

Together, substitute the value of "G" from S=4G/5 into G=S+10
G=S+10
=> 5S/4 = S+10
=> S = 40

Similarly, you can subsitute S=2P and S=4G/5 in G=P+30.
Again you'll get the same ans, i.e. S=40

Hence, we get a unique answer in both the cases by taking (1)and(2) together.
