If the average (arithmetic mean) of 5 different numbers is 12, what is the median of the 5 umbers?

1. The median of the 5 numbers is equal to 1/3 of the sum of the 4 numberss other than the median
2. The sum of the 4 numbers other than the median is equal to 45

I would go with D

Take easier of the 2 statements

Stmt II

Given Mean of 5 different numbers=12 Sum=60

Sum of 4 numbers = 45. Other number =15 which is the median

SUFF

Stmt I

Let a,b,c,d,e be the numbers

Let e be the median

a+b+c+d+e = 60 => a+b+c+d = 60-e (1)


1/3(a+b+c+d) = e

a+b+c+d = 3e (2)

Using (1) and (2)

60-e = 3e

60 = 4e

e=15

median 15

SUFF

Hope I dint miss something & assume more than I should...
