From 1 we have
x-y=6
if we put x=6,y=0 we can answer No.
But if we put
x=3, y=-3 we get Yes.
Hence insuff.

From 2 we get x+y=0
or x=-y
which will always gives us a yes.
Hence IMO ans is B.
What if i have not yet beat the beast, I know i will beat it!!!!!!!!

If we can definitely say that x = y or x = -y, we can answer the question.. statement 2 does this. Hence, B
