The fraction 1/7 is equal to 0.142857142857. . . The first digit after the decimal point is 1. What is the sum of the first 100 digits after the decimal point?
(A) 432
(B) 435
(C) 440
(D) 445
(E) 447

sum of first six digits is 27 (1+4+2+8+5+7)
Sum of first 100 digits = 16*27+(15)
= 447
IMO E OA pls?

You got it right! This raises another question, see this...

1/7 = 0.142857142857......
2/7 = 0.285714285714......
3/7 = 0.428571428571......
4/7 = 0.571428571428......
5/7 = 0.714285714285......
6/7 = 0.857142857142......
7/7 = 1

You see that the numbers after the decimal point for each fractions from 1/7 to 6/7 are exactly the same. It depends on which number to start to define which level of the fraction.

This new question is... Are the "six days" described in Genesis six days in our time or six ages of the eternity?

Teritus - you misunderstood the question. It asks for sum of 100 digits after decimal point in 1/7

since 1/7 is repeating decimal

1 4 2 8 5 7 ..... 100 times

(1+4+2+8+5+7)*16 + 1+4+2+8

27*16 + 15 = 447
