Profile Evaluation Required For Top MIM.

Hi everyone,
Thanks to BEAT the GMAT for all the help during my GMAT preparation

I am a Mechanical Engineering student (BTech 3rd year) from India (Thapar University is among top 25 engineering colleges in india)
I am aiming for a top MIM program anywhere in Europe or America

GMAT: 690 (Q47,V38), IR8, AWA4( also want to know how big an issue is it as AWA4 is only 18%ile)
CGPA: 7.2/10

Internships:
- 6 months internship at Indian Oil Corp. Ltd.
- 8 weeks internship at JIndal Stainless Ltd.

Extra curricular- Academics
- presented a research paper at ICPEME2018 International concernece in Barcelona( my only international experience so far)
- Mensa IQ level exam 98%ile
- Succesfully completed projects at internships

Extra curricular- Leadership
- Competent Leader at Toastmasters international
- Event Management Head at college fest
Publicity Mentor at another college fest
Worked at renouned NGO

By far I am intersted in IE Spain, ESSEC, WHU, DUKE, LBS, LSE, RSM ESCP but i am also open to more suggestions

It will also be helpful to know how much will a year's full time work experience in a good company will be able to enhance my chances into above schools as I am pretty confedent to land a decent job during my current college placements. Also if I get an years gap in both my degrees then I will be able to learn a foreign language and get certified online cources will good grades to justify my CGPA.

Hey,

Considering you were a third-year student in June 2018, I'm assuming this question is still valid for you, and you are still looking for answers.

Starting with your undergrad, the fact that you studied at a good college with a solid reputation bodes well for you, but it can only get you so far. Your CGPA is decent, but not great, and if you have managed to get it close to 8, your chances will improve drastically.
Your GMAT again, though respectable, is not great. LBS, LSE and HEC Paris have a very competitive admission process, and having a 710 is usually considered to give one a fighting chance. I'd suggest that you retake the GMAT with better preparation, and aim for a 710.

MiM being an early career degree, the class profile consists of students with 3 months of work ex on an average. So, not doing a job and applying on the basis of your internships isn't a bad idea, but of course, getting placed at a decent firm will bolster your chances. Your internships at established industry leaders is a good sign, and you need to come up with strong application essays to highlight the impact of the work that you did there. While b-schools care about where you did your internship, what they care more about is what you did there.

Your paper presentations and work with an NGO strengthen your profile, and you have a realistic chance of targeting ESADE, ESCP Europe, EDHEC, among others. For LBS, LSE, HEC, or even ESSEC, you will have to improve your GMAT score significantly, in addition to having a stellar application, in terms of the essays and LORs that you submit. Your academics are strong and would definitely help. If you can work on your leadership examples and build stories around them, they will be a major point in determining your candidacy.

In addition to that, I would also say focus on your breadth of experience and most importantly your career goals (short term and long term), how the course fits in it and how this particular college fits in.
