On a certain day it took Bill three times as long to drive from home to work as it took Sue to drive from home to work. How many kilometers did Bill drive from home to work?

(1) Sue drove 10 kilometers from home to work, and the ratio of distance driven from home to work time to drive from home to work was the same for Bill and Sue that day.

(2) The ratio of distance driven from home to work time to drive from home to work for Sue that day was 64 kilometers per hour.

(1) Sue drove 10 kilometers from home to work, and the ratio of distance driven from home to work time to drive from home to work was the same for Bill and Sue that day.

this can be rephrased as
Both Bill and Sue have the same driving speed.
Distance travelled by Sue 10 kms
Bill takes three times the time
So the distance travelled by Bill = 30 kms

Sufficient

(2) The ratio of distance driven from home to work time to drive from home to work for Sue that day was 64 kilometers per hour.
Doesnt tell us anything about the distance travelled...

Insufficient

Option A

Let Bill's time = B and Sue's time = S
Then B = 3 * S

(1) Distance traveled by Sue = 10 km,

Now, ratio of distance to time is the rate of speed, so Bill's speed is the same as that of Sue's speed. As B = 3 * S, so with the same rate he would cover 3 times more distance than Sue did

So, distance traveled by Bill = 3 * Distance traveled by Sue = 3 * 10 = 30 km; SUFFICIENT.

(2) Only rate at which Sue traveled is given; NOT sufficient.

The correct answer is A.
