what schools am I looking at here?

by hibuhibu » Wed Mar 04, 2009 11:53 pm
Hello,

I recently finished my gmat and I wanted to know which schools I have realistic chance of getting into. I understand that this is a very brief list of my qualification and probably does not entirely represent myself, but I still wanted to hear from you experts!

GMAT: 700 (Quant:49, Verbal 37, Essay 5)
GPA: 3.125(Major BSAD)
Experience: 1.5 Years in sales(mortgage) and 1.5years in import/export.
Language: Korean/English(duh!)
And few years of experience in nonprofit participation.
In terms of personality, I probably have alot to offer because of my dual culture back ground etc.

So just glancing at my qualification above, which schools do I have a realistic chance of getting in???
Please let me know.

Thanks alot.

Hello,

You’re right that it’s not feasible to recommend programs with the information you provided. I would need to know your goals, your work trajectory (not just what you did but how “fast track” your career has been), and the quality of your leadership experiences to provide meaningful input.

That said, based on what you offered, I would speculate that you should look at top-25 level schools. Perhaps apply to a couple of top-15 schools as reasonable reaches (e.g., Yale, Michigan, Cornell), most in the top-20 level (e.g., Texas, UNC, Indiana), and 1-2 relative safeties (e.g., Olin, Simon). This assumes excellent applications, strong career track record, and well-defined goals.

Best regards,
