Hello. Long time reader -- first time poster.
I'm applying this upcoming application cycle and wanted to see what this forum thought about my plans.
Here's some background:
-31 yr old white male
-8+ year veteran on active duty in the Air Force
-4 yrs experience as a nuclear missile launch officer and 4 yrs as a project manager for HR/IT systems
-Deployed to Iraq as a General's staff officer
-UGPA: 3.18 (B.S., Sport and Recreation Management) -- had some family-related extenuating circumstances
-Grad GPA: 3.32 (M.A., Organizational Leadership)
-GMAT: TBD -- first sitting is 28 Sept
I know my lack of GMAT score doesn't aid in the analysis of my chances, but I expect around a 660-700. My letters of recommendation will be strong, as will my essays.
Here are my targets (in rank order per round):
ROUND 1 (unless I have to retake the GMAT)
-Kellogg
-Dartmouth
-Duke
ROUND 2
-MIT
-Michigan
-Virginia
-Cornell
Short term, I want to do management consulting at MBB or a smaller boutique firm. Long term, I'd like to pursue non-profit work related to improving the healthcare benefit system for veterans. Financial considerations for each school are largely irrelevant as I have the GI Bill and will be eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Program.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
