Results of early experiment

by annakool1009 » Mon Aug 04, 2008 3:04 am
The nineteenth-century chemist Humphry Davy presented the results of his early experiments in his “Essay on Heat and Light,” a critique of all chemistry since Robert Boyle as well as a vision of a new chemistry that Davy hoped to found.

A. a critique of all chemistry since Robert Boyle as well as a vision of a
B. a critique of all chemistry following Robert Boyle and also his envisioning of a
C. a critique of all chemistry after Robert Boyle and envisioning as well
D. critiquing all chemistry from Robert Boyle forward and also a vision of
E. critiquing all the chemistry done since Robert Boyle as well as his own

The OA for this question as usual to my surprise is B

Any explantions for the above ???
Gearing up for the D-day.

I doubt the OA.

Reason : his in option B is ambiguous .
I would hav chose A.

True,
IMO A,

In B also critique and envisioning are not parallel
But the OA says B !

D modify for the sentence preceding

I have a different take to this

what should be the best bet after " all chemistry".
all chemistry since Robert Boyle ... seems bad enough
all chemistry following Robert Boyle ... if we think of following as affililiation to Boyle rather than as after him

As far as his envisioing, the gerund does make up a noun to parallel Critique

Guys OA is correct
Difference between A & B.... Job is to modify Eassay.....,
From A it says Eassay, A as well as B that is new chemistry right ???
so it shows only B is new chemistry

Now
From B it says A and also B that means both are new chemistry
The real problem would have been it only A and B was given as option
