Can You Believe It

After months of prep, I drive 3 hours to take the test to make good on the deadline. No joke, get to the testing center, and heavy construction is going on in the suite above. When I say heavy, I mean jackhammers. Thought I would still give it a rip, much to my dismay, the test is difficult enough sans walls shaking and had to finally cancel halfway through Verbal. Now I have a 31 day block on my account before re-taking and the lovely folks at GMAT are requiring written proof that I missed a deadline and that I have other deadlines coming up, with the test center already confirming said construction. These people are a joke, put me to some call center in India and haven't even suggested a refund or "free" test. I finally talked to a program coordinator "Blair" here in the states who was completely "blah" to what just happened and is suggesting that somehow they are not at fault. What is a testing center doing open when heavy construction is above head and peoples entire future depends on the score of the test? No joke out of pocket expense is well over a grand and I can't even get a free retake of a cancelled test?
