Only A and C are possible; the others insert it for the plural mountains. I'd have gone with A for clarity; naming in C lacks the clear grammatical reference that who gives.

C can't be right, the subject of "naming..." is the Glass Mountains.

If I am not mistaken,this is the 1st problem of OG 12th edition. The answer is A. Check the book for the best possible explanation.
