I just got CRUSHED by the GMAT!

I took the gmat today and got a miserable 440 (Q25 V 26)! I have been studying since January and even took a PR 9 week classroom course. I am so bummed out I feel like giving up. My target score is 650 and that seems so far away right now. Timing is a major issue for me. I always leave 6-7 questions unanswered at the end of each section. I dont know what to do to increase my speed.

On practice tests I was getting around 500 so I was suprised to get 440. I am considering taking another course, maybe with MGMAT. Can anyone give me some advice on what to do next?

Here is a suggestion that I did a few weeks ago. I went through all of the questions on each section of the Official Guide and I timed myself on each question.

Yes, it took forever to set up in Excel. BUT...at least I knew what types of questions gave me the most trouble time-wise. Then I could focus on learning tricks to improve my speed on just those types of questions. Don't get discouraged, it could just be that you are having trouble on say Geometry questions, or Rate questions....you just have to pinpoint which it is....

Hey Aries27. You sound exactly like me. I took the GMAT today as well and got the exact same scores you did. I feel like I put in a lot of quality study time and preparation for this exam. I was a bit disappointed when I saw my score. I am glad that the exam is over for now, but I am already planning my next steps which include a prep course. We can beat this test. I kicked butt in the OG and in the Princeton Review GMAT book as well as the Kaplan book. I had done some practice exams with Kaplan a few months ago and scored around 550 each time so I felt that after some more intense practice that I would come up on my score before the actual test. I'm ready to start studying again. Keep your head up Aries. WE WILL BEAT THE GMAT.

Thanks for the advice Student22 and Globescape. I will try doing the excel spreadsheet so I can see which problems are taking me a longer than 2 minutes....and yes WE can beat this test!!!!!! ( I hope hehe) :)
