gmat 670 (Q-51 V-28)

by adityakajaria » Tue Jun 15, 2010 12:51 pm
Hi....
I gave the gmat this monday and got a score of 670 though i expected much more. I am an Electrical & Electronics Engineer with a work x of almost 2 yrs in India. I want to apply for the full time mba program starting fall 2011. I had shortlisted the foll colleges before taking the exam :
1. Berkley
2. Ross - Umich
3. Tuck - Dartmouth
4. Booth - univ of chicago
5. MIT
6. Kellogg
7. Stern - NYU
8. NUS
9. Nanyang
10. Indian School of Business

But since my score is much below what i had expected, i want to know my chances of getting through these colls.
Applying to which colleges would be unrealistic?

you have the best math score. Why don't you try to improve your verbal score. How long have you prepared for the exam?

You can strike ISB off the list. I scored 690 and received feedback from them saying that 690 is too low for candidates with <= 3 yrs work exp

With your current scores, the only schools that you have a shot with are Nanyang and NUS. But even they may be wary of the low verbal score. Though it is common knowledge that most B schools look primarily at the quant score (to judge how the candidate would fare at bschool), the verbal score should not be below 30(bare minimum)

Your quant is all set, so just focus on the verbal portion for a couple of months ...go thru economist and nytimes daily.. get the manhattan sc guide... a 10 point boost in your verbal score should rocket your score to the mid 700s

All the best!

I had been preparing for the last 3 months. I did well in all my mocks. Got a minimum of 700 and max 760 in the mocks.

I would concentrate on your gmat
by the way, there is another subforum where you can ask about which schools to apply

Hi...
I reappeared for the gmat and scored a 710 (Q 50, V 36). I would like to know what are my chances now of getting into the above listed colls?
