Considering cancelling test - what would you do?

My GMAT test is two weeks away. I've been studying hard for over two months, but I'm not really seeing any improvement in scores over that time period. I'm consistently in the 500-540 range and my goal is 600 for the schools I'm looking to attend. Quant is definitely my weakness, but my Verbal scores are not great either.

Aside from the GMAT, I think I have a solid application. My GPA in college was a 3.8 from a large, well respected university (majored in business, with a concentration in marketing). I have 5 years work experience, will have good references, no gaps in jobs, I think I interview well, have extracurricular activities, volunteer, etc.

At this point I'm really disheartened that I haven't seen much improvement in my practice test scores and I'm not even close to my goal. Should I take the test as scheduled in hopes that even a bad score will get me accepted if I apply early (my top choices for schools have rolling admissions)? OR should I cancel my test, keep studying, and take again in a month or so thereby delaying my application with the potential of risk of not even improving my score? OR should I just scrap the whole business school idea since I'm apparently not cut out for it (according to the GMAT)? I'm planning on attending B-school part-time while still working full-time (or maybe a little less than full-time), if that matters.

Ugh...

Reschedule for at least 45 days out, hire a tutor, then take another stab.

I think you have the goods, but probably lack the direction to use them.
Yep.

My advice... reschedule for a month down the road.

If you aren't anywhere near your score within 2 weeks, you probably aren't going to get it on test day.

I was in the same boat as you... 2 weeks away and not near my target. I tried to cram as much as I could in the final 2 weeks but nothing stuck. I ended up cancelling my score on test day.

Since then (about 2 weeks ago) I am now studying a little less and am dominating subjects/topics that I didn't understand before (rate, age problems, etc). You are probably studying too much (I used to do 3-4 hours a weekday or 5 hours on weekend and now study about 1-2 hours a day and a couple more on weekends).

You gotta be calm and clear your head and get sleep too (7 hours atleast) and you'll think better.

Thanks for the advice. I thought about it a lot yesterday and today and I think I am going to cancel my test. I'm just not ready and don't want a bad score on my record. May have to delay applying for a year if I can't improve in the next month or so. Thanks again.
