CV: A quick question !

by sohrabkalra » Wed Sep 05, 2012 8:34 am
Hi ,

I was working on my CV and ran into an interesting dilemma.

I undertook some leadership roles during my undergraduate degree, couple of which were entreprenurial in nature in the sense that we revived the defunct events and ran the organizing committee professionaly

To that , is it ok to put these roles under experience section as i want to show the entreprenurial nature and my resume format has three sections of experience - education and additional.or they are best mentioned in the additional section?

Look to hear from you

Regards,
Sohrab

Hello,

My response would be "none of the above" :) I suggest you include any leadership experience from college in your education section, to give a clear picture of what you did when. Unless you actually started a company or non profit that you're still active with, in which case I'd put it under a section called 'entrepreneurship' or 'leadership'. Based on what you're saying, it sounds like you revived some dying clubs/event -- you can make that clear on your resume, but if you really want to showcase the story and think it's one of your best ones, you could detail it in an essay potentially. For the resume I'd suggest:

Professional Experience Section

Extracurricular Section (post college activities)

Education Section:
ABC University, Bachelors in XYZ
Achievements: Deans List, etc. etc.
Activities: President, ABC Club - revived defunct blah blah into active 500+ person club; VP, XYZ Organization... etc.

Additional:
Languages:
Hobbies:

Hope this helps!
