Hi friends:

I don't see any discussion on filling out the forms. I wonder if there are any cautions to be made.
For example: I don't know how significant honors and awards should be in order to be included. Can someone help me with this? What if I don't have anything significant?

thanks,

J

Hi jl2684,

If you don't have anything significant, don't put anything in. Don't make stuff up or start listing totally insignificant awards. Not everyone has received honors and awards, and in many countries these things are just not given out all the time.

They probably include this in the form as an opportunity for applicants to tell them about their honors/awards without having to mention them in their essays. This way the essays can stay focussed on the question you're answering, rather than on getting all your great awards in.

If you have any further questions, you can contact me via my site www.superduperstudent.com.

Good luck!

Most importantly, check your application forms carefully for typos and grammatical errors. These will reflect poorly on your candidacy. As for awards - these should be things that come to mind easily and that occurred in or after college (in fact, I would veer away from listing many college awards and then nothing - try to focus on more recent achievements). Often, applicants only have "awards" from earlier years (Merit Scholar or other scholarship awards and recognitions) and then it is fine to list them. Awards should be in reverse chronological order (unless otherwise specified).

Hope this helps!
