If A and B are postive numbers.What are the cordinates of the mid-point of line segment CD in the xy-plane?

1.The coordinates of C are (a,1-b).

2.The coordinates of D are (1-a,b)

OAC

My doubt is the when you are asked in the question that what is the value like this one. In that case will you go for particular value or just plug in some random values and just find the answer?

This problem is straight fwd. formula-based. I usually see if I can apply formula otherwise try to plug values.

stmt # 1: Coordinates of C are (a, 1-b)
We don't know coordinates of D. Hence, NOT SUFFICIENT.

stmt # 2: Coordinates of D are (1-a, b).
We don't know coordinates of C. Hence, NOT SUFFICIENT.

stmt # 1 & 2, taken together we have Coordinates of C & D,
Hence the mid-point of C & D would be based on the formula:

((x1 + x2)/2, (y1+y2)/2) which will be

((a+1-a)/2, (1-b+b)/2) = (1/2, 1/2)

Hence answer is C.
