Is a Triangle ABC Isosceles Triangle.

1. BD=BC
2. Area of ABD and ACD are same.

(I saw this question in Magoosh GMAT, Ans is D, but my question is for an equilateral traingle also BD=BC. How can statement 1 is sufficient)

Equilateral triangles are a subset of isoceles triangles. In other words, a triangle is isoceles if it has at least two equal sides...not EXACTLY two.

This was a good post. Even i initially marked this answer as E. But yes if a triangle is an equilateral triangle, then the triangle has to be a isosceles triangle.
