Since the ratio of the areas is 2:1 - The ratios of the side lengths is simply: squareroot(2):squareroot (1):
So,
S = Squareroot(2) * s
Just remember, the connection between the areas and the side lengths is simply the side lengths squared, for similar triangles.
For instance:
If we have a 9,12,15 triangle and a 3,4,5.
A = 1/2 * 9 * 12 = 54
A = 1/2 * 3 * 4 = 6
Area ratio 9:1
And notice the ratio for the sides is 3:1 - Simply the square root, or to get the 9:1 ratio we simply square the 3:1 ratio.
