To start with, I am not sure universities would know if you have canceled a test and even if they do know about it I dont think it would be a bad thing. In case they are concerned about it they might ask you about it and just be sure you have a good answer to give. I dont see any reason why this would be considered negatively, I have friends who have canceled the GMAT and then gone on to score 700+, never heard anyone of them being troubled about the canceled test.
